Foundation and City Win Blandin Grant

In our first partnership with the City of Squaw Lake the ECF was awarded a $4,000 grant from the Blandin Foundation to support "Bimose Trail Planning." Bi-moh-say' means walking in Ojibwe. Our goal is to create an asphalt paved trail from a recreational park and trail head at the school, to the Max Mini store and beyond to the wayside rest at the Laurentian Divide.

The Blandin grant will allow the city to pay the matching funds required for an in-kind grant from the Arrowhead Regional Development Corporation's Regional Trasporation Advisory Committee. The Foundation will manage the remaining funds to pay for organizing community support for the project and engineering services not included in the in-kind grant.
