Walden University Update

It was cold, but clear, and the roads were dry when I left for Minneapolis on the 6th but not so in Minneapolis. When I arrived at Walden University, which is in a beautifully converted historic flour mill, I was informed the meeting had been cancelled. The University President, Paula Peinovich was going to meet with me one-on-one. Not a bad deal at all.

It was great having an opportunity to talk with her at length about our community, our kids, and our vision of a school that keeps them close to home while offering a world of opportunities. On Wednesday night, Feb. 7th, the Foundation board voted to submit a letter of intent with Walden. This is the first step towards sponsorship. If selected, Walden will help us prepare the 100 page application to the state and we'll be on our way. The letter of intent is due on March 1st and a decision should follow quickly.

Blandin Foundation Rep to Attend Eagleview Meeting

Malissa Bahr, Recruitment Coordinator for the Blandin Community Leadership Program, will speak at the ECF meeting on Wednesday at 6:30 in the school music room. We are very fortunate that Blandin is recruiting in our area now as they usually require a minimum population of 5,000 to consider offering the program.

The BCLP is for everyone interested in improving their community, not just those interested in the Foundation or who serve on their City or Township Councils. For more information visit theBlandin Foundation web site then click on Leadership Programs.

If you are interested in the Leadership Program, but cannot attend the meeting, leave a comment here and we'll make sure you get the brochure, dvd, and application.
